Horse
Decided to break out the ol' pencil and the last of my card that I stole from my art teacher last year, and drew a horse as a Christmas present for my best friend. Had a go at getting that hyper-realistic feel, but I know I'm a long way off before I get anywhere close to hyperrealism. Still, not a bad horse, if I do say so myself. For once I did progress shots.

Little Girl Study
Haven't done any 2D stuff in a while, so I figured that today I'd do a study. Just a little girl I found on Pinterest.

Horse Thing
Finally finished rigging my horse creature and now I've done a little idle animation for him. Gonna do a derpy run cycle next. Super keen to animate this thing!

Horse Thing
Started working on a weird little horse creature which is basically just a horse head with tiny little legs and a fat body. I've baked normals, still have to give it a proper texture and some hair for a mane, and I'm currently working on an idle animation for him. I'll do a run and walk cycle next and then see where things go from there. Here are some old renders: since then I've given him a placeholder eye texture.

Camera Turntable
Finally rendered out a turntable for my Canon 600D model I did a while ago. Took way too long. Rendered with Arnold

Foo Dog
Another WIP on my foo dog. Gave him a pedestal type thing to sit on, and working his little beardy parts on his chin. Also gave him a fancy tail, but I've still got a while to go before I'm finished. Rendered with Zbrush's BPR renderer, with a Chalk shader, to make it look like stone. Starting to finish off old projects before I start anything new.

Camera
Modelled a Canon 600D. Not 100% accurate, but about as close as I could get. Will do a turntable soon and post that as well. Rendered in Maya with Arnold.

Foo Dog
WIP on a Foo Dog. Started this last night, did most of it today. Later on I'll pose him and give him a little ball to put his paw on, and a little base too. Hopefully I'd like to get this 3D printed once it's done and use it as a paperweight. Yes, I will get around to finishing the World Snail and The Couple and all my other projects... eventually.
Production Assignment - Lily and Grunge
Lily and Grunge are complete, and on their way to being animated. just a couple of stills showing the model and some of their blendshapes for the trailer. We're on track to completion!

Piano
Finished off modelling my piano, and just chucked some basic Arnold shaders onto it, couldn't be bothered putting too much effort into it, as I'd have to probably retopo and unwrap it then. Rendered out a diffuse/beauty pass, then an ambient occlusion pass separately, and composited it quickly in Photoshop by chucking the AO on an Overlay layer, which really helped darken those shadows and make the colours pop.

Piano
Randomly decided to start modelling a grand piano, for no apparent reason other than that I wanted to. Still a WIP, I still have to model the inside of it, and give it some pedals, which shouldn't take too long. Then I have to texture it, and I think I might make a turn table just because I can.

Redhead
Haven't done any non school related art for a while now, thought I'd paint a face. I don't normally like drawing people though, but she turned out pretty good. Took me way longer than it should have, because I got distracted.

Production Assignment - Retopology
Working quickly, up to retopo of Grunge the Orc already. Finished his body super quickly and efficiently thanks to Zbrush's Zremesher, now I'm up to his face.

Production Assignment
Haven't updated in a good long while, but I've had a lot of stuff on. Our production assignment is basically the real deal: we get a client and they give us a project to complete. Ours is based around the [yet to exist] game, Vengeance Fairy, where we must make a trailer for it. Long story short, the past couple of weeks have been doing a Pre-production assignment, where we basically just did all the planning and concepting for the actual production. Now that that's finished, I can start modelling and working with my group on the actual project. Started on one of the characters in the trailer, an orc. Work in progress, but nearly finished. This is Grunge.

The World Snail
Started a new project already, even though I haven't finished The Couple yet, but I didn't realise how quickly I would get through this, so I'm about halfway finished already. I've modeled and posed the snail along with its shell, and started working on some textures, although I'll either need to start using 3DCoat (which I've never used) to paint over the seams, or make some textures in Photoshop, because at the moment the seams are showing. Using Arnold to render, will do a turntable once it's done (maybe an animation too? that would be cool...)

The Couple - Update
Finished modelling everything now: gave both the guy and girl fingernails, fixed up his face, and gave him hair (and a bit of stubble). I also added grass to the base. Now to start polypainting it. First I'm just blocking in base colours. I have to make sure to really work hard on the polypainting to make it look good. I've also figured out how to adjust the background gradient, and change the lighting in the scene.

Compositing Assignment Final Image
The finished product of my lighting and compositing assignment. The ambient occlusion isn't quite right on the jade figures, so they look a little artificial, and I'm not sure why that happened, because it looked fine in Maya. Oh well.

The Couple - Update
After some mucking around in Marmoset Toolbag 2, and Keyshot and also Zbrush, I've decided I'm going to do the turntable in Zbrush because it renders hair the best. I spent today working on the girl's hair and adjusting her facial features slightly. Next to fix up her hands/arms, then to finish off the guy. Also I still have to figure out how to adjust lighting in Zbrush, and do a turntable. I did a quick BPR without any polypaint, just to see what it might look like, and it looks pretty good, except for the dodgy lighting. Keen as a bean to get this finished and to move onto my next big secret project.

The Couple - Update
Just an update on my model of the couple. I gave him baggy jeans and a leather jacket, and a shirt too (obviously, although you can't see it well). Still a long way to go before this is done though. Gotta finish off the jeans, and then give him shoes, maybe fix up/replace her shoes too, then fix up the bodies of both of them (i.e. head/face shape, hands and arms), before I can even think about adding fibermesh for the hair. Getting there though, just working at it bit by bit, day by day.

Compositing Test
Learning to do a bit of basic compositing in Maya. Haven't gotten into any of the Nuke stuff yet. This was rendered with the Arnold Renderer. 3D models on a 2D background. Neat.

Fruit Bowl
Started working on learning lighting, texturing and compositing on Wednesday. Working on making a fruit bowl look realistic. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Bananas and apple look a little fake though.

Lincoln Vs Dark Lincoln
I was thinking about Link from the Legend of Zelda the other day, and then that went onto Dark Link, and somehow my brain said Lincoln instead of Link, and then this happened. Now the name Lincoln looks funny to me.

Character Animation Assignment - Finished
A frustrated Koh finally finished his animation assignment this morning. Took forever because the Render farm didn't work properly. In all honesty, it could have been better. Only like 12 seconds long, but boy was it a lot of work.

Puppy
I wish I could do photorealistic drawings... One day. I set my standards way too high for myself. Urgh.
Hockey Kid
pumped out this one real quickly. I really should try and get better though, I don't really like this one that much.

The Walrus and the Woman
Had a hectic weekend, so haven't been doing much art, but I started this at school, and finished it tonight. My animation will be up on my blog soon too, as soon as I render it and put it together.

Landscape Study
Another one which I started ages ago, then lost the motivation to finish. I finally finished it though, although I think it looks pretty crappy up close.

Left Handed Drawing - Walrus
Just a little walrus sketch with my left hand. One day my left handed drawings will be good, and I'll lose that wobbly goodness that I like to get with it, and that's unfortunate.

Lip Sync
So after a long complicated series of events which resulted in my work being lost and me having to move to another computer, I finished the Lip Sync animation exercise. Audio is the famous 'I Am The Danger' quote from Breaking Bad.

Landscape Study
Another landscape study I did. I think I'm getting better at them. Certainly getting better at going through the process (Shape, Value, Texture, Pattern).

Landscape Study
Just another quick study. Getting better at doing these I think. Original is on the left, mine on the right. You can tell by the bad quality field.
Landscape Study
Quick landscape study I did. Going to get heavy into the studies I think, also because I need to get better at working with values. Been watching a lot of tutorials lately as well, and learned some helpful tips. Here's hoping my art gets significantly better (soon).
Top is the original, in case you couldn't tell.

Walk Cycle (Adjusted)
Added a bit of a bob to the hips for my MooM walk cycle. Now it looks better.
Run Cycle
A lazy run cycle I did. Could be smoother, but it was just an exercise. Done with the Norman rig.

Walk Cycle
A goofy little walk cycle I did with the MooM rig. Didn't take long at all, and just playblasted it out. Looks way better on repeat in Maya though. Did it game style (walking on the spot) because film style is hard.
